I’ve narrowed my options down to the Microsoft Xbox 360 Live Wireless Headset and the Plantronics X30 Xbox 360 Headset, also when I have a headset plugged into the xbox 360 controller, do I hear all the gameplay sound (game, effects, music, voice from friends) through the little headset or can I configure it to hear only voices from friends through the headset and game sounds through my tv speakers or maybe can I just use the mic and hear everything through my tv speakers? By the way, by a "better" headset I mean mostly that it captures my voice loud and clear.

Since I like to study outside of the house in a cafe or bookstore, I am looking into these. I’ve occasionally glanced at them, but am surprised at the price. 0-0 dollars? That’s a LOT considering you can buy regular earbuds for like dollars!

Do any of you use a noise-canceling headset? Are they effective? Recommendations?
