Cordless Phones Health Rsks : www.emfnews.org Blue tube headset : www.emfnews.org August 28, 2010 Dear Dr. Havas: Two weeks ago I noticed a small news item about parents wanting Wi Fi out of their schools in Simcoe County. The next night, I took a look at the Wi Fi ‘box’ at the foot of my bed, and decided to unplug it. The results were immediate. I couldn’t believe it! I felt energized, and I felt like all the nerves in my body were ‘coming back to life’. Over the last two weeks I have felt so good — I’ve got my life back! Two years ago I bought a new desktop computer, and since I had a laptop as well I decided to go ‘wireless’. People at work said: “Go for it — it’s great!” When the chap from Rogers came to install it, he suggested a shelf beneath the TV in my bedroom. Since this was going to be pointing directly at me, in my bed, and wasn’t far away, I did ask him if it would be all right. Would I have any problems? Without hesitation, he indicated everything would be fine. It was installed and that was the last I thought about it. Between then and two weeks ago…. Ø My leg muscles were getting weaker. (I walk a lot, so this didn’t make sense.) Ø I was listless, had no energy, and, now that I look back, I know was depressed. (This was huge for me.) Ø My body felt different — a lack of appetite and I was constipated; I had back problems (sciatica and muscle spasms). Ø I had a summer cold that I just couldn’t shake. (I have had two, maybe three, colds over the past 10

Cordless Phones Health Rsks : www.emfnews.org Envi Blue tube headset : www.emfnews.org Bluetooth headsets are even worse than conventional headsets. Here’s why. Bluetooth technology is wireless technology in which a wired connection has been replaced with a receiver and transmitter and this connection communicates on a 2.4 gigahertz frequency. This is the same frequency used by a microwave oven. However, the power used to send these frequencies is very low. In fact, the signal strength is only about 1 milliwatt of power, whereas a cell phone can operate on a signal of up to three watts. (54) So the lower power used by Bluetooth technology limits range to around 30 feet. But here’s the problem. When the earpiece is worn on the head it is on continually. And although the power is less the radiation exposure is constant even when no conversation is occurring. At least with a cell phone you lay the phone down when the conversation is concluded. Not so with a Bluetooth earpiece. Secondly, this is a wireless connection. From what has been said about how cell phone radiation harms us we know that when we talk or send information over a Bluetooth connection of any kind we’re being exposed to the information-carrying radio wave. And it is this wave that does the damage. So, Bluetooth devices are not any safer than non-wireless devices and, in fact, can be more dangerous due to the continual exposure of radiation to the head. Here’s something else to question. With the Bluetooth

www.emfnews.org www.emfnews.org It’ well known to us that the hand phone electromagnetic radiation is harmful to people; however, we can’t live a better life without a mobile phone. So how to carry the cell phone can do less harm to our health? With the gradual development of the wireless telecommunication technology, the cellphone has been widely used. At the same time, the related healthy problem caused by the mobile phone also arises the greater concern in public. It’s become the issue we care most that what harm the mobile phone radiation does to us and how to decrease the harm to a lowest extent. When the cell phone is in the operation, it will transfer the radio waves to the base station. And the radio waves will be absorbed by people more or less. These radio waves are the mobile phone radiation. Generally speaking, less radiation produces when your cell phone is not in use, and more radiation when you are on the phone, and the most radiation when you dial but the call doesn’t get through which can be triple of the cellphone absent in use. The radiation is likely to change the body tissues and does great harm to body. Suggestions for placing your cell phone. Don’t put your mobile beside your pillow. The head suffers most from the cellphone radiation. It may arise the functional disease of the central nervous system. People may suffer from the headache, dizziness, dreaminess, hair loss and sensitive skin. Therefore, it’s better to get through the calls far from your

Contrary to what we initially wrote on the Pong case, it does appear to work. An anechoic chamber is used to test the iPhone’s signal strength. Another test that handset makers often run on their devices is the signal strength test. The test is conducted in a specially constructed chamber called an anechoic chamber. Cetecom has a radio-frequency anechoic chamber where the interior surfaces are covered with radiation-absorbent material. In this case, the iPhone is strapped to the model with the phone facing the ground. The test measures the effective level of radiated power that the phone emits while in a transmit mode. The burst power or the channel power from the phone is measured. The result is a spherical radiation pattern that yields the Total Radiated Power. The test takes about 45 minutes including setup and is almost completely automated. A lab technician only needs to position the phone right and make sure the computer spews out the results. In case of the iPhone, the total radiated power was 12.54 dBm (decibels referenced to one milliwatt) and remained almost the same with the Pong case, indicating that the sleeve has no effect on signal strength of the phone. Cordless Phones Brain Tumors www.emfnews.org Bluetube Headset www.emfnews.org www.emfnews.org Are cordless phones harmful? New study says yes. Cordless phones might not be much safer than cell phones, according to a new Swedish study. This study found that both cell phone and cordless phone users had increased risk of brain tumors. That’s because cordless phones emit the same type of wireless microwave radiation as cell phones. Unlike cell phones, which receive wireless signals from cell towers and satellites, cordless phones are picking up signals transmitted from the antenna on the phone’s base station. Although the distance the frequencies travel is different, the type of radiation that cell phones and cordless phones give off is the same. Wireless microwave radiation is hazardous to our bodies for several reasons. Microwave radiation has the ability to penetrate our cells and create biological changes which affect everything from our DNA to our blood/brain barrier. When you talk on a cordless phone (even if it is a low radiation cordless phone) your brain, eyes and ears are being bathed in microwave frequencies. Regular cordless phone users experience many of the same symptoms experienced by cell phone users. * headaches * dizziness * eye twitching * burning sensation on the face * hot ear * sleep disturbances * vision problems * neck pain * ringing in the ears All of these symptoms have been found to be linked to short-term microwave radiation exposure. Long-term

Cordless Phones Health Rsks : www.emfnews.org Blue tube headset : www.emfnews.org As for practical advice, the Health Ministry says that when using a portable phone of any type, it is better to use the speakerphone than to put the handset to your ear. Don’t install the base unit of a cordless phone in the bedroom, children’s room or office, where you spend much of your time. If the handset isn’t in use, return it to the base unit (the charger ), because the whole time it’s not on that base unit it’s emitting radiation. The recommendations were consolidated by Prof. Sigal Sadetzki, director of the cancer unit at the Gertner Institute for Epidemiology and Health Policy Research at Sheba Medical Center. Sadetzki is the Israeli researcher who participated in the international Interphone study, which investigated the correlation between illness and the use of mobile phones. The study, published about two months ago, did not find that 10 years of cell-phone usage led to a greater chance of developing malignant or benign tumors in the brain, among users speaking less than 30 minutes a day. But it also concluded that “heavy users” – which means they speak at least 30 minutes a day on their mobile phones – do have a 40% greater chance of developing a brain tumor. Why now? So why would the ministry publish a warning about cordless phones now? There are no new studies out, says Sadetzki. But following the outcome of the Interphone study and the fact that Israelis are very heavy

It’s also a very profitable business venture. One major manufacturer proudly states on their web site for DECT baby monitors: “Happy babies make happy parents. Regaining their market leading position makes a happy business.” (8) Whether or not this makes for happy babies is debatable, for according to the UK based organization Powerwatch: “Over the past five years we, with the help of parents, have measured a variety of baby monitors and the DECT pulsing ones seem to be far more disruptive of the infant’s sleep and state of contentment (causing restlessness, irritability and crying). The old wired ones and the older “analogue” cordless ones do not seem to cause the same problems if kept at least one metre from the cot / bed. We have had a number of reports from parents that their babies did not sleep well and cried a lot when they used DECT monitors but were ok when no baby monitor was used. When they then tried a cheaper analogue monitor, the infant then slept as well as they did with no monitor. A DECT monitor placed in your baby’s bedroom will expose them to more pulsing microwave radiation that living near to a mobile phone base station mast would do. As a result, whilst there have been no studies done into baby monitors specifically, studies that cover mobile phone masts
