on delta airlines, in first class, (when we got first class only by chance – how marvelous) they gave us noise excluding headsets for THREE dollars! sure we only got them for the 9 hour flight over to frankfurt, but still: why do the headsets on say amazon cost 200+ bucks??? i REALLY need some that will hook up to my ipod and that will cancel out all other noise around me, like the ones on the airplanes, but i need a less pricey pair that will do the job. i dont care if its a nice company like bose or not. i just need a pair. can you help me out here? thanks

My flight instructor told me I should probably buy my own headset.
I’ve had my fair share of letdowns with headsets not related to aviation.
The mic crackles and the speaker sound quality is bad if they’re too cheap.
I want a good aviation headset with noise cancelling and a quality mic, but I feel like I’d be paying for a brand name with most of them. ie Bose is 5.
What brand and model would anyone advise that’s dependable, durable, and cheap. (0-0)
And is the extra hundred or so that I pay for a brand name worth it?
